Operation Restore Sight can be differentiated from other eye care mission teams by the vast scope of sub-specialty eye care we provide, enabling the team to provide state-of-the-art surgical care while simultaneously meeting the educational needs of the host institution.
Our team is comprised primarily of ophthalmologists and technicians who have worked or trained at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, one of the top eye hospitals in the world.
The team members are highly experienced and dedicated to teaching and training ophthalmologists and eye care professionals. This is demonstrated in their ability to expertly transfer skills and knowledge to local eye care providers.
Operation Restore Sight and Dooley Intermed International
Operation Restore Sight has a close working relationship with Dooley Intermed International, one of the USA’s oldest continually operating not-for-profit organizations
Dooley Intermed International has more than 50 years of humanitarian aid experience and a history of outstanding service in numerous countries.
ORS works closely with Dooley Intermed International on outreach eye projects and international instructional symposiums particularly in remote parts of the globe where eye care is most desperately needed.

Meet Our Team Leaders
Ronald C. Gentile, MD
FACS,FASRS
Co-Leader, Operation Restore Sight
Dr Gentile is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEEI). He is also an attending surgeon at NYU Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island.
He is a retinal specialist and surgeon with expertise in diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disorders, macular diseases, ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, retinal detachments and ocular trauma.
Dr. Gentile serves as a reviewer for many scientific ophthalmic journals and is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Macula Society, and the New York Ophthalmological Society.
He is past president of the Ophthalmology Section, New York Academy of Medicine and has been a mentor to hundreds of young doctors, who he has helped train in both the art and science of medicine.
He has been involved in leading humanitarian missions to Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

President, Dooley Intermed International
Scott Hamilton is a Lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York City and the President of Dooley Intermed International, a multi-national humanitarian organization.
His past collaborations include biomedical research expeditions with NASA, Yale University, and the US Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine, developing predictive health models and conducting large-scale physiological studies in extreme environments.
He has organized and led multiple outreach eye missions to some of the most remote regions of the world.
